Text:  Romans 12:6-9  Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;  7  Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;  8  Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.  9  Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

TO PRACTICE YOUR GIFT

Romans 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

MEMBERS OF THE BODY

Romans 12:4  For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

THE BODY CARES FOR THE BODY

1 Corinthians 12:25-26  That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.  26  And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; …

SO, HAVING DIFFERENT GIFTS

Romans 12:6  Having then [so, now] gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith [confidence];

EACH PROPHETS WROTE THEIR PART

Hebrews 1:1  God, who at sundry times [G4183 many + G3313 part] and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

PROPHETS SPAKE IN PARTS

1 Corinthians 14:29-31  Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.  30  If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.  31  For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted [exhorted].

PARTS HAVE CEASE

1 Corinthians 13:8-10  Charity [love] never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail [cease, become idle]; whether there be tongues, they shall cease [stopped]; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away [same word as fail, cease].  9  For we know in part [3313, part], and we prophesy in part [3313, part].  10  But when that which is perfect [complete, finished] is come, then that which is in part [3313, part] shall be done away [same word as fail, cease].

GIFTS OF MINISTRY, TEACHING

Romans 12:7  Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth [present active participle], on teaching;

ADDICTED TO THE MINISTRY

1 Corinthians 16:15  … brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, … they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,) (in the body of Christ)

MINISTRY IN THE BODY

Ephesians 4:11-12  And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;  12  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

THE BUSINESS OF MINISTRY

Acts 6:1, 3  And in those days, … there arose a murmuring of the Grecians …, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration (physical needs).  3  Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

TEACHING AND ADMONISHING

Colossians 3:16  Let the word of Christ [God] dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another …

GIFTS TO EXHORT, RULE, MERCY

Romans 12:8  Or he that exhorteth [present active nominative], on exhortation: he that giveth [present nominative], let him do it with simplicity [generously]; he that ruleth [present nominative], with diligence [earnestness]; he that sheweth mercy [present nominative], with cheerfulness .

PAUL EXHORTED THE BRETHREN

Romans 12:1  I beseech [exhort] you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, …

EXHORTATION FOR A WORTHY WALK

EXHORT BY DOCTRINE

2 Timothy 4:2  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

ENDURE EXHORTATION

Hebrews 13:22  And I beseech [present active, exhort] you, brethren, suffer [present middle, endure] the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you in few words.

KNOW THEM THAT RULE

1 Thessalonians 5:12  And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over [rule] you in the Lord, and admonish you;

ELDERS RULE

1 Timothy 5:17  Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

REMEMBER THOSE WHO RULE

Hebrews 13:7  Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

OBEY THEM THAT RULE

Hebrews 13:17  Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

THE BLIND HAVE A NEED

Luke 18:38  And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

MERCY MINISTERS TO NEED

Luke 18:41-43  (Jesus) Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.  42  And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.  43  And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.

LOVE MUST BE PRESENT

Romans 12:9  Let [the] love [nominative singular] be without dissimulation [hypocrisy] . …

POSITION OF LEADERSHIP

1 Corinthians 13:1  Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity [love], I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

PROPHECY AND TEACHING

1 Corinthians 13:2  And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity [love], I am nothing.

MINISTRY

1 Corinthians 13:3  And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity [love], it profiteth me nothing.

THE END IS AT HAND!

1 Peter 4:7-11  But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.  8  And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.  9  Use hospitality one to another without grudging.  10  As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.  11  If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
