Text:  Philippians 1:1  Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

FAITH DELIVERED TO THE SAINTS

Jude 1:3  Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

FAITH AND HOPE NOT SEEN

Hebrews 11:1  Now faith (not seen) is the substance of things hoped (not seen) for, the evidence of things not seen.

FAITH IS NOT VAIN

1 Corinthians 15:17  And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

IF FAITH IS VAIN, HOPE IS VAIN

1 Corinthians 15:19-20  If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.  20  But now is Christ risen from the dead,

HOPE IS NOT VAIN

1 Peter 1:3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

1 Peter 1:21  Who by him (Christ) do believe [present active] in God, that raised him (Christ) up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

HOPE OF LIFE IN THE KINGDOM AGE

Titus 3:7  That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal [agelasting] life.

HOPE OF GLORY BY FAITH

IN THE LAST DAYS

1 Timothy 4:1  Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY

1 Timothy 6:10  For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

CONTINUE IN THE FAITH

Colossians 1:22-23  In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:  23  If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard…

ESTEEMING FAITH / GOOD CONSCIENCE

1 Timothy 1:19  Holding [present active of ecw, esteem] faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away [cast away, thrust away, middle voice] concerning faith have made shipwreck:

INSPECT THE BRETHREN

Acts 6:3  Wherefore, brethren, look ye out [inspect] among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost [spirit] and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

STEPHEN’S FAITH OBSERVED

Acts 6:8  And Stephen, full of faith and power [ability, strength], did great wonders and miracles among the people.

FAITH REQUIRES WORKS

James 2:17  Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

FAITH IS NOT OBSERVED WITHOUT WORKS

James 2:18  Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

BY WORKS FAITH IS PERFECTED

James 2:22  Seest thou how faith wrought with his (Abraham) works, and by works was faith made perfect?

WORK OF FAITH

1 Thessalonians 1:3  Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience [endurance] of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

BARNABAS ALSO

Acts 11:24  For he (Barnabas) was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost [word order, spirit of holiness] and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

EVIDENCE OF FAITH

2 Peter 1:5-8  And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue (moral character); and to virtue knowledge (being spiritually informed);  6  And to knowledge temperance (self control); and to temperance patience [abide under, have fortitude, persevere, endure]; and to patience godliness (a Godly lifestyle);  7  And to godliness brotherly kindness (kind and considerate of others); and to brotherly kindness charity .  8  For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

OBSERVABLE SPIRIT OF FAITH

2 Corinthians 4:13  We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed [aorist], and therefore have I spoken [aorist]; we also [kai, therefore] believe [present active indicative], and therefore speak [present active indicative];

SELF EXAMINATION

2 Corinthians 13:5  Examine [present active imperative] yourselves, whether ye be in the faith (that produces hope); prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you (the hope of glory, Col. 1:27), except ye be reprobates [adokimos, not approved, cast away]?

THE APPROVED ARE CROWNED

James 1:12  Blessed is the man that endureth temptation [proving]: for when he is tried [dokimos, approved], he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH / HOPE

2 Timothy 4:7-8  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:  8  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

CONTINUE IN THE FAITH

Acts 14:22  Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
