BY FAITH JOSEPH

Text: Hebrews 11:22  "By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones."

JOSEPH'S PROPHECY

Genesis 50:24-26  "And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. 25. And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence. 26. So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt."

BURY MY DEAD

Genesis 23:4  "I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a burying place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight."

JACOB AND HIS SONS

Acts 7:15-16  "So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers, 16. And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor . . ."

OATH FULFILLED

Exodus 13:19  "And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you."

BONES BURIED – 144 YEARS

Joshua 24:32  "And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph."

BOW OF REMEMBRANCE

Genesis 9:16  "And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth."

PASSOVER MEMORIAL

Exodus 12:14  "And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever."

PHYLACTERY

Exodus 13:9  "And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Lord's law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt."

Exodus 17:14  "And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this (victory over Amalek) for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven."

Exodus 28:12  "And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod for stones of memorial unto the children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a memorial."

BREASTPLATE

Exodus 28:29  "And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the LORD continually."

FRINGES

Numbers 15:38-39  "Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a rib band of blue: 39. And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:"

MEMORIAL STONES

Joshua 4:7  "Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever."

PURIM A MEMORIAL

Esther 9:28  "And that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not fail from among the Jews, nor the memorial of them perish from their seed."

BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE

Malachi 3:16  "Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name."

MELCHIZEDEK - PRIEST

Genesis 14:18-19  "And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. 19. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:"

OUR HIGH PRIEST

Hebrews 9:11  "But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, . . ."

TO PROCLAIM THE DEATH

1 Corinthians 11:23-26  "For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

24. And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

25. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood (shed for many): this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

THE DEATH

26. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show [preach, proclaim, teach] the Lord's [the] death [thanatos] till he come."

THANATOS IN GETHSEMANE

Mark 14:34  "And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto [to] death [thanatos]: tarry ye here, and watch."

DEATH FOR LITTLE CHILDREN

Hebrews 2:14  "Forasmuch then as the children [little children] are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through [the] death he might destroy him that had the power of [the] death, that is, the devil;"

LITTLE CHILDREN

Matthew 18:3  "And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."

HEAVENLY KINGDOM

2 Peter 1:10-13  "Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

11. For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting [agelasting] kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

12. Wherefore (conjunction) I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

13. Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;"
