JESUS CHRIST, THE SAME

Sunday Morning:  August 18, 2002

Text: Hebrews 13:8-9  "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever [ages]. 9. Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein."

ONE PURPOSE

 THE WILL OF THE FATHER

NOT WITH MEATS

NOT CONFUSED

Luke 12:29-31  "And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. 30. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. 31. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you."

PEACE AND JOY

Romans 14:17  "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."

SEEK THINGS THAT ARE ABOVE

A HEAVENLY CITY

NOT TOSSED TO AND FRO

SOMETHING NEW

BEWARE

Colossians 2:6-8  "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7. Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."

ABSTAIN FROM MEATS

1 Timothy 4:3  "Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth."

ORDINANCES OF MEN

Colossians 2:20-23  "Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, 21. (Touch not; taste not; handle not; 22. Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? 23. Which things have indeed a show of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh."

THE LORD'S COMING IS NEAR

James 5:8  "Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh."

STABILITY

Isaiah 33:6  "And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure."

OUT OF THE HEART
