GOD THE FATHER

Sunday Morning:  November 17, 2002

Text:  Galatians 1:4  "Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:"

THE FATHER IN GALATIANS

Galatians 1:1  "Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)"

GRACE AND PEACE

Galatians 1:3  "Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,"

GRACE FOR SERVICE

Hebrews 12:28  "Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace [may we have grace], whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:"

GRACE FOR PEACE

Philippians 4:7  "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep [guards] your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

SUBMISSION TO THE FATHER

Galatians 4:6  "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father."

SPIRIT OF HIS SON

Mark 14:36  "And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt."

WHO GAVE HIMSELF

Galatians 1:4  "Who gave himself for our sins, . . according to the will of God and our Father:"

 

INTENSE GIVING

Galatians 2:20  "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave [paradidomi, also translated "put in prison"; to give with intensity] himself for me."

HE LOVED AND GAVE

Ephesians 5:25  "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave [paradidomi, also translated "put in prison"; to give with intensity] himself for it;"

GAVE HIMSELF TO REDEEM

Titus 2:14  "Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity [lawlessness]. . . ."

Ephesians 1:3  "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us (saints and faithful, v. 1) with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:"

BLESSED OF THE FATHER

Matthew 25:34  "Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:"

THE FATHER MADE US FIT

Colossians 1:12-13  "Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13. Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:"

FATHER'S GOOD PLEASURE

Luke 12:31-32  "But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. 32. Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."

MYSTERY OF HIS WILL

Ephesians 1:9  "Having made known unto us (saints and faithful, v. 1) the mystery of his (the Father, v. 3) will, according to his (the Father, v. 3) good pleasure which he (the Father, v. 3) hath purposed in himself:"

GOD WORKS IN US

Philippians 2:13  "For it is God (the father) which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."

TO BE COME SONS

Ephesians 1:5  "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children (to place as a son) by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,"

FATHER GAVE US A LIVING HOPE

1 Peter 1:3-4  "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4. To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,"

HOPE IS ETERNAL LIFE

Titus 1:2  "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;"

INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE

Titus 3:7  "That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life."

WITH THE FATHER

1 John 1:2  "(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)"

LIFE GIVEN TO THE SON

John 5:24-26  "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth [present active] my word, and believeth [present active] on him (Father) that sent me, hath [present active, esteemeth] everlasting life, and shall not come [present middle] into condemnation [judgment]; but is passed from [the] death unto [the] life. 25. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live [future]. 26. For as the Father hath [the] life (agelasting life, v.24) in himself; so hath he (the Father) given to the Son to have life (agelasting life, v.24) in himself;"

LITTLE CHILDREN KNOW THE FATHER

1 John 2:13  ". . . I write unto you, little children, because ye have known (perfect tense) the Father."

WHO KNOWS THE FATHER?

Matthew 11:27  "All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him."

NO MAN COMETH TO THE FATHER

John 14:6  "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

 

LITTLE CHILDREN ENTER THE KINGDOM

Matthew 18:3  "And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."

WHO ENTERS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN?

Matthew 7:21  "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven."

THE FATHER'S WILL

John 6:39-40  "And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it (those given to the Son) up again at the last day (seventh day, millennium). 40. And this is the will of him (THE Father) that sent me, that every one which seeth [present active] the Son, and believeth [present active] on him, may have [present active] everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day."

LEARNED OF THE FATHER

John 6:45  "It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me."

CAST OUT OF THE KINGDOM

John 6:37  "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh [present middle] to me I will in no wise cast out." (out of the fellowship of the camp or kingdom, not the family)
