BAPTISM

Text: Galatians 3:27  "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ."

BAPTISMS

Hebrews 6:1-2  "Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2. Of the doctrine of baptisms (washings), and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment."

YE ARE WASHED

1 Corinthians 6:9-11  "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10. Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."

WASHING OF WATER

Ephesians 5:26-27  "That he might sanctify (John 17:17  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.) and cleanse it (the Church) with the washing of water by the word, 27. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish."

BODIES WASHED

Hebrews 10:22  "Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water."

 

GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR BODY

1 Corinthians 6:20  "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

BAPTISM OF SUFFERING

Matthew 20:22-23  “But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. 23. And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.”

IN THE WILDERNESS

Mark 1:4  “John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.”

KINGDOM MESSAGE

Matthew 4:17 "From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

BEYOND JORDAN

John 10:40  “And (Jesus escaped and) went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.”

PREPARING FOR THE INHERITANCE

Deuteronomy 12:10  “But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;”

THREE DAYS

Joshua 1:11  “Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.”

BAPTISM AND RESURRECTION

1 Peter 3:21  “The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh (alone), but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:”

PURGED CONSCIENCE

Hebrews 9:14  “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal [age] Spirit (of the kingdom age) offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

JESUS WAS BAPTIZED

Matthew 3:13-17  Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15. And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17. And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

TRANSFIGURATION

2 Peter 1:17  “For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

REPENT AND BE BAPTIZED

Acts 2:38-39  "Then Peter said unto them (brethren), Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission [release] of sins, and ye shall receive the gift (the promise, agelasting life) of the Holy Ghost. 39. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."

WORD RECEIVED

Acts 2:41  "Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls."

THE JAILOR

Acts 16:29-33  “Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30. And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31. And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord [God], and to all that were in his house.

MYSTERIES OF THE KINGDOM

Luke 8:10-11  "And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. 11. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God."

PUT ON CHRIST

BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH

Romans 6:1-8  "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2. God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3. Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death [thanatos]? 4. Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death [the thanatos]: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6. Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7. For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:"
