Text:  1 Corinthians 11:23-26

1 Corinthians 11:26  For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew [present active indicative, proclaim, preach] the Lord's [the] death till he come.

FINISHED WORK

John 19:30  When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up [aorist, event] the ghost [spirit].

START OF AN UNFINISHED WORK

John 19:34  But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

BEGAN A NEW MINISTRY

Hebrews 5:5  So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.

THE BLOOD FOR MANY

Matthew 26:27-28  And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;  28  For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

MANY CALLED

Matthew 22:14  For many are called, but few are chosen.

BY HIS OWN BLOOD

Hebrews 9:11-12  But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, …  12  … by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal [agelasting, church age] redemption [ransom] for us.

BY THE BLOOD

Hebrews 10:19-20  Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,  20  By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

THE SOUL

Leviticus 17:11  For the life [nephesh, soul] of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement [reconciliation, Lev. 8:17] for your souls [nephesh]: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement [reconciliation, Lev. 8:17] for the soul [nephesh].

RECONCILIATION

1 Corinthians 7:11  But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

RECONCILIATION BY HIS DEATH

Romans 5:10  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death [qanatov, soul death] of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved [future passive] by his life.

LAY DOWN HIS SOUL

John 10:15-18  As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life [soul, blood] for the sheep.  16  And other sheep [Gentiles] I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.  17  Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life [soul, blood], that I might take it again.  18  No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

SUFFERING THE DEATH

Hebrews 2:9  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of [the] death [the qanatov, (soul)], (for many) crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death [qanatov] for every man.

THE LITTLE CHILDREN

Hebrews 2:13  And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children [little children] which God hath given me.

ONE DIED FOR ALL

2 Corinthians 5:14  For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

THREE DAYS IN PARADISE

Mark 8:31  And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

TO DAY IN PARADISE

Luke 23:43  And Jesus said unto him (thief next to him), Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

THE DEATH FOR LITTLE CHILDREN

Hebrews 2:14  Forasmuch then as the children [paidion, little children] are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through [the] death he might destroy [aorist active subjunctive, cumber, hamper, hinder] him that had the power of [the] death, that is, the devil;

BECOME LITTLE CHILDREN

Matthew 18:3  And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

DEATHS, PLURAL

Isaiah 53:9  And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death [plural, deaths]; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

TRAVAIL OF HIS SOUL

Isaiah 53:11  He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear [Strong’s 5445] their iniquities.

BEAR THEIR INIQUITIES

Lamentations 5:7  Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne [Strong’s 5445] their iniquities. (the consequences of their iniquities)

POURED OUT HIS SOUL

Isaiah 53:12  Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death [qanatov, lxx]: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

SORROWFUL UNTO DEATH

Mark 14:34  And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death [qanatov, (soul death)]: tarry ye here, and watch.

BY MEANS OF DEATH

Hebrews 9:15  And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death [qanatov, soul death], for the redemption [deliverance, Heb 11:29] of the transgressions [transgressors] that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal [agelasting] inheritance.

 INTIMATE FELLOWSHIP OF THE BODY

1 Corinthians 10:16-17  The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion [intimate fellowship] of the blood (soul) of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion [intimate fellowship] of the body of Christ?  17  For we being [the] many are one bread, and one [the] body: for we are all partakers [present active sharing together] of that one bread (the body).

PROCLAIMING HIS DEATH FOR THE MANY

1 Corinthians 11:26  For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew [present active indicative, preach according to] the Lord's [the] death [qanaton, (the laying down of his soul for the many, the sheep)] till he come.

POSITION, UNDER GOD

1 Corinthians 11:3  But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

FOR ETERNITY

1 Corinthians 15:28  And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
