Text:  Philippians 1:1-6  Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:  2  Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.  3  I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,  4  Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,  5  For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;  6  Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Use of words:

     Christ – 37 times.

     Gospel – 9 times.

PREACHING THE SAME THING

Philippians 3:1  Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.

WHAT GOSPEL?

Philippians 1:5  For your fellowship [communion, partnership] in the gospel from the first day until now;

FIRST DAY

Acts 16:14-15  And a certain woman named Lydia, … which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.  15  And when she was baptized, and her household, …

HIS HEART OPEN TO THE WORD OF GOD

Acts 16:32-33  And they spake unto him the word of the Lord [God], and to all that were in his house.  33  And he (ministered to the saints, Heb 6:10) took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.

WORD OF GOD DEFINED

Luke 8:10-11  And he said, Unto you it (seed) is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: ...  11  Now the parable is this: The seed (sown) is the word of God.

THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST

Philippians 1:27  Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith (faith based hope based) of the gospel;

GOSPEL OF CHRIST

Romans 1:16-17  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation (so great salvation, Heb 2:3) to every one that believeth [present active participle]; to the Jew first, (at one time only to the Jews) and also to the Greek.  17  For therein (the gospel of Christ) is the righteousness of God (that is by faith) revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

HOPE OF THE GOSPEL

Colossians 1:23  If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

THE HOPE IS GLORY

Colossians 1:27  To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

GOSPEL THAT PAUL PREACHED

Galatians 1:11-12  But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.  12  For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

CALLED BY PAUL’S GOSPEL

2 Thessalonians 2:14  Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

WHO WERE CALLED

2 Thessalonians 2:13  But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation (so great salvation, Heb 2:3) through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

MY GOSPEL

Romans 16:25  Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

JESUS CHRIST RAISED

2 Timothy 2:8  Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:

THEY KNEW HE WAS ALIVE

Acts 4:33  And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

A WELL KNOW FACT

1 Corinthians 15:6-8  After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren …  7  After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.  8  And last of all he was seen of me also ...

PAUL KNEW WHY

1 Corinthians 15:14-15, 17  And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.  15  Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ :… 17  And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

FAITH CAME AFTER THE LAW

Galatians 3:23  But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

PAUL PREACHED THE RESURRECTION

Acts 13:30  But God raised him from the dead:

THE PROMISE MADE POSSIBLE

Acts 13:32-33  And we declare unto you glad tidings [gospel], how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,  33  God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. (begotten again to be High Priest)

THE PROMISE

1 John 2:25  And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal [agelasting (kingdom)] life.

THE WORD OF GOD WAS PREACHED

Acts 13:46  Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God (mysteries of the kingdom of God) should first have been spoken to you (Jews only at one time): but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting [agelasting (kingdom)] life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

GENTILES RECEIVED IT

Acts 13:48  And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord [God]: and as many as were ordained to eternal [agelasting (kingdom)] life believed.
