THE LORD MEANS BUSINESS

Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 "For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, [the Lord of us Jesus Christ]

10. Who died [aorist active participle] for us, that, whether we wake [present active subjunctive be awake] or sleep [present active subjunctive be asleep], we should live [aorist active subjunctive] together with him.

11. Wherefore comfort [exhort, present active imperative] yourselves together, and edify [build up, present active imperative] one another, even as also ye do [present active indicative]."

Acts 16:31 "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (not in the Nestles text), and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."

NOT APPOINTED UNTO WRATH

1 Thessalonians 5:9 "For God hath not appointed us to wrath (suffer in judgment), but to obtain salvation (deliverance from loss) by our Lord Jesus Christ,"

SUFFER LOSS OR REWARD

1 Corinthians 3:13-15 "Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day (millennial day, 1000 years) shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward (declared in the millenium). 15. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss (declared in the millennium): but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."

WE WILL BE FORGIVEN

Ezekiel 36:25 "Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you."

YET REMEMBERING

Ezekiel 36:31 "Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations."

WITH TEARS

Luke 13:28 "There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out (of the kingdom)."

TEARS WIPED AWAY

Revelation 21:4 "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."

AFTER THE MILLENNIUM

Revelation 21:1 "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea."

NO TEARS FOR THESE

Revelation 21:7 "He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son."

CHRIST IS SERIOUS

1 Thessalonians 5:10 "Who died [aorist active] for us, that, whether we wake [present active subjunctive be awake] or sleep [present active subjunctive be asleep], we should live [aorist active subjunctive] together with him."

GOD IS FOR US

Romans 8:31-34 "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

32. He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

33. Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

34. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us."

EXHORTATION TO CHANGE

1 Thessalonians 5:6 "Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober."

THAT WE MAY LIVE WITH HIM

John 13:8 "Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me."

BEHOLDING HIS GLORY

John 17:24 "Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world."

WALKING WITH HIM IN WHITE

Revelation 3:4 "Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy."

REIGNING WITH HIM

Revelation 3:21 "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne."

EXHORT EACH OTHER

1 Thessalonians 5:11 "Wherefore comfort [exhort, present active imperative] yourselves together, and edify [build up, present active imperative] one another, even as also ye do [present active indicative]."

WALK WORTHY OF THE KINGDOM

1 Thessalonians 2:11-12 "just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children,

12. so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory."

FAITH

1 Thessalonians 3:2 "And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellow labourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:"

WALK TO PLEASE GOD

1 Thessalonians 4:1 "Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more."

LOVE ONE ANOTHER

1 Thessalonians 4:9-10 "But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another. 10. And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech [exhort] you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;"

KEEP BELIEVING

1 Thessalonians 4:18 "Wherefore comfort [exhort]one another with these words."

PAUL'S PASSION

Colossians 1:28-29 "Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

29. Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily."

LABOR TO BE WELL PLEASING TO HIM

2 Corinthians 5:9-11 "Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.  

10. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.  

11. Knowing therefore the terror [fear, because of his wrath] of the Lord, we persuade men; . . ."
