THE JUST

Sunday Morning:  April 6, 2003

Text: Galatians 3:11  "But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith."

JUSTIFIED BY FAITH

Galatians 2:16  "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed (common salvation) in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, . . ."

JUSTIFICATION

Romans 8:33  "Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth (not chargeable)."

THE JUST

Luke 1:6  "And they (Zacharias, and Elizabeth) were both righteous [just] before God, walking in all the commandments (moral law) and ordinances (ceremonial law) of the Lord blameless."

FIELD SERVANT

Luke 17:7-8  "But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? 8. And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself (continue to serve), and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?"

OBEYED THE COMMANDMENTS

Luke 17:9  "Doth he thank that servant [better translated, mh< (not) e]cei (present active, esteemeth) ca>rin (grace) tw~ doulw~ (the servant)] because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow [think] not. 10. So likewise ye (apostles, v. 5), when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable [only here and Mat. 25:30] servants: we have done that which was our duty to do."

 

CHARGED UNPROFITABLE

Luke 17:10  "So likewise ye (apostles, v. 5), when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable [only here and Mat. 25:30] servants: we have done that which was our duty to do."

SENTENCE

Matthew 25:30  "And cast ye the unprofitable (charged) servant  into outer darkness (serving tables): there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

MORE CHARGES

Matthew 25:25-26  "And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth:. . . 26. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, . ."

Mark 4:40  ". . . Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?"

DO NOT DEPART FROM THE FAITH

Hebrews 10:38-39  "Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him (he departed from faith). 39. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition [ruin, inheritance on the other side of Jordan]; but of them that believe [of faith] to the saving of the soul."

PLEASING GOD

Hebrews 11:6  "But without faith it is impossible to please him: . . ."

CONTINUE IN THE FAITH

Colossians 1:22-23  "In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight (justified): 23. If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope (glory, verse 27) of the gospel . . "

THE JUST ARE REWARDED

Matthew 10:41  "He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous [just] man in the name of a righteous [just] man shall receive a righteous [just] man's reward."

LOT WAS JUST BUT NOT OF FAITH

2 Peter 2:7-8  "And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: 8. (For that righteous [just] man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous [just] soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)"

LOT’S INHERITANCE

Deuteronomy 2:9  "And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, . . . I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession (portion one)."

DOUBLE PORTION INHERITANCE

Deuteronomy 2:19  "And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, . . . I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession (portion two – both outside the land)."

DOUBLE PORTION TO JOSEPH

1 Chronicles 5:1  "Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons (Ephraim, Manasseh) of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright. (double portion inheritance given to Joseph)"

SINGLE PORTION INHERITANCE

Joshua 14:3  "For Moses (law) had given the inheritance of two tribes (Reuben, Gad) and an half tribe (Manasseh) on the other side Jordan: (wilderness)."

UNPROFITABLE SERVANTS

Numbers 32:25  "And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spake unto Moses, saying, Thy servants will do as my lord commandeth. (their duty)"

SINGLE PORTION OUTSIDE THE LAND

Deuteronomy 2:5  ". . . I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau (firstborn) for a possession."

WHY?

Genesis 25:33-34  ". . . Esau despised his birthright."

INHERITANCE LOST

Hebrews 12:16-17  ". . . profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. 17. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears."

THE LAW FOR THE UNJUST

1 Timothy 1:9-10  "Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous [just] man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10. For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind (homosexual), for menstealers (enslave others), for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;"

UNJUST ARE LAWLESS

1 Corinthians 6:9-10  "Know ye not that the unrighteous [unjust] shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind (homosexual], 10. Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God."

UNJUST THRUST OUT

Luke 13:27-28  "But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity [unjust]. 28. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out."

REWARD OF THE JUSTIFIED

Matthew 25:23  "His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."

THE JOY OF REIGNING

Hebrews 12:2  "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross (His Father’s will), despising the shame (of being unjust), and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
