ROMANS 3:25

Sunday Morning: May 29, 2005

Text:  Romans 3:25-26  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;  26  To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier [present active participle] of him which [out from] believeth [faith] in [from, genitive case] Jesus.

CHRIST DIED FOR US

Romans 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

CHRIST DIED FOR ALL

2 Corinthians 5:14  For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

CHRIST DIED, OUR PASSOVER LAMB

John 19:30  When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

JUSTIFIED BY THE BLOOD

Romans 5:9  Much more then, being now justified [aorist passive] by his blood, we (justified in the family) shall be saved from wrath (at the judgment seat)  through him.

THE BLOOD FOR SPRINKLING

John 19:33-34  But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already (for all), they brake not his legs:  34  But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side (the veil), and forthwith came there out blood and water. (blood only here in John)

THE PASSOVER THEN THE BLOOD

Hebrews 11:28  Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn (who had the birthright) should touch them.

BLOOD BECOMES SIGNIFICANT

Exodus 12:6-7  And ye shall keep it (lamb or goat) up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.  7  And they shall take of the blood (to protect the first born, the many), and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

BLOODLESS SACRIFICE IN GENESIS

Abel, Genesis 4:10-11. Eating blood Genesis 9:4. Capital punishment Genesis 9:5-6. Joseph Genesis 37:22, 26, 37; 42:22. Grapes Genesis 49:11.

REDEEMED THROUGH THE BLOOD

Ephesians 1:7  In whom (Christ) we (those who are kin) have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness [liberty, deliverance] of [from] sins (bondage), according to the riches of his grace (power);

CHURCH PURCHASED BY THE BLOOD

Acts 20:28  Take heed . . . to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

AGAIN, FAITH IN HIS BLOOD

Romans 3:25  Whom (Christ) God hath set forth to be a propitiation [mercyseat, Heb 9:5] through faith in his blood

FAITH GIVES SUBSTANCE TO THE BLOOD

Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

JUSTIFIED BY FAITH

Romans 5:1  Therefore being justified [aorist passive (having been justified)] by faith (in His blood), (then) we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

THE JUSTIFIED ARE NOT CHARGEABLE

Romans 8:33  Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth [present active participle, continuous justification].

JUSTIFICATION, IS CONTINUOUS

Acts 13:39  And by him (Christ) all that believe [present active participle] are justified [present active, continuous action] from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

CONTINUOUS JUSTIFICATION

1 John 1:7  But if we walk [present active, continuous] in the light, as he is in the light, we have [present active, continuous] fellowship (peace with God) one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth [present active, continuous] us from all sin. (unchargeable, continuous)

BY CONTINUOUS CONFESSION

1 John 1:9  If we confess [present active, continuous] our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

THE JUSTIFIED ARE NOT CHARGEABLE

Romans 8:33-34  Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth [present active participle, continuous].  34  Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

RAISED FOR OUR JUSTIFICATION

Romans 4:25  Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

MANY CALLED

Matthew 22:14  For many are called, but few are chosen.

BLOOD SHED FOR MANY

Matthew 26:27-28  And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;  28  For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission [deliverance] of [from] sins.

THEM WHO ARE CALLED

Romans 8:28  And we know that all things work together [present active] for good to them that love [present active participle] God, to them [dative plural masculine] who are the called according to his purpose.

SAVED FIRST THEN CALLED

2 Timothy 1:9  Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

CALLED TO HIS KINGDOM AND GLORY

1 Thessalonians 2:12  That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

PREDESTINATED BRETHREN

Romans 8:29  For whom (plural, the called, v.28) he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. (those who are seeking to enter into the kingdom, Mat 12:50; 7:21)

WHOM HE CALLED

Romans 8:30  Moreover whom (brethren) he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

CONDITION OF JUSTIFICATION

2 Peter 1:10-11  Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure [steadfast]: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:  11  For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting [agelasting] kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
