One act of disobedience disqualified Moses from entering the land of Canaan. \par \b "THE TRUTH":\b0 In verse 29 there are three areas of knowledge that is more than the milk of the Word. These are "The Son of God," "The blood of the covenant," and "The spirit of grace." \cf1\ul Rev_21:7\cf0\ulnone "He that \b overcometh \b0 (spirit of grace) shall \b inherit\b0 (blood of the covenant) all things; and I will be his God, and he shall \b be my son\b0 (Son of God)." The deeper knowledge of the truth is like salt \cf1\ul Mat_5:13\cf0\ulnone "...if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be\b trodden under foot\b0 (same word found in \cf1 Heb_10:30\cf0 ) of men." Salt that is savory is valuable. When salt has lost it saltiness then it is good for nothing, therefore it is cast out, and trodden under foot. When a child of God becomes lawless, the value of being an overcomer, having an inheritance, and being proclaimed a son of God drops so low that he can walk on them.\par \b "NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR SINS": \b0 Under the law of Moses there were sinLVALs that a child of God could commit and be forgiven by a sacrifice or offering; and there were other sins that required the death penalty. The presumptuous sin in \cf1\ul Num_15:30\cf0\ulnone required death by stoning. There was not a sacrifice or offering that could be offered to spare the life of the guilty person and restore him back in the camp and fellowship. Eli, the priest, honored his sons more than the Lord and Eli was judged in \cf1\ul 1Sa_3:14\cf0\ulnone "And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that \b the iniquity of Eli's house\b0 shall \b not\b0 \b be purged\b0 with \b sacrifice\b0 nor \b offering for ever\b0 ."\b \cf1\ul\b0 Heb_9:22\cf0\ulnone\b \b0 "And \b almost all\b0 things are by the law \b purged with blood\b0 ; and without shedding of blood is no remission." "Almost all" means there are some things that are not cleansed with blood, yet without the shedding of blood there is no deliverance and liberty for the child of God. Not all of the sins of the saved will be forgiven \b until\b0 after there is a new heaven and a new earth. \cf1\ul Mat_12:32\cf0\ulnone "... whosoever speaketh against (blasphemes) the Holy Ghost, it shall\b not be forgiven\b0 him, neither in \b this world\b0 [\f1\fs26 aiwn\f0\fs24 , age], neither in the\b \i world \i0 to come\b0 [\ul present active, the one coming\ulnone ]."\par Remember the warning in \cf1\ul Mat_6:15\cf0\ulnone "But if ye \b forgive not \b0 men their trespasses, \b neither\b0 will your Father \b forgive your trespasses\b0 ." also in \cf1\ul 1Jo_1:9\cf0\ulnone\b \b0 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us \i our \i0 sins..." Unconfessed sins will not put you out of the family of God but it will break your fellowship with God. The children of Israel in the Old Testament are saved, yet God still remembers their sins and iniquities (\f1\fs26 anomia\f0\fs24 ) to this day. It is not until the nation of Israel is raised from their graves and brought into the land that the Lord will say in \cfLVAL1\ul Heb_10:16-17\cf0\ulnone\b \b0 "...I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds ...; Their \b sins\b0 and \b iniquities\b0 will I \b remember no more."\b0 \par \pard\keepn\s1\sb240\sa60\qc\kerning28\b DESPISED MOSES' LAW\par \pard\tx720\tx1440\tx2880\tx4320\tx5760\kerning0\b0 In the Old Testament, those who sinned presumptuous despised the Word of the Lord and died without mercy under the law of Moses. \cf1\ul Num_15:31\cf0\ulnone "Because he hath \b despised \b0 the \b word \b0 of the LORD, ...that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity \i shall be \i0 upon him." Under the law of Moses there was no sacrifice that would cleanse a child of God from the presumptuous sin. \cf1\ul Isa_5:24\cf0\ulnone "Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the \b chaff\b0 , \i so \i0 their root shall be \b as\b0 \b rottenness\b0 , and their blossom shall go up \b as dust\b0 : \b because they have cast away the law\b0 of the LORD of hosts, and \b despised \b0 the \b word \b0 of the Holy One of Israel." The presumptuous sin and the willful sin is the sin of lawlessness. You cannot live a lawless life and expect to stand justified in his presence. \par \pard\keepn\s1\sb240\sa60\qc\kerning28\b THE WARNING\par \pard\tx720\tx1440\tx2880\tx4320\tx5760\kerning0\b0 The warning of this passage is to believers and not to the lost as shown in verse 30 "The Lord shall judge \b his people\b0 ." This passage is a warning to the children of God to avoid the willful sin at all cost. The warning is given by the phrases: "I will\b recompense\b0 , saith the Lord;" "\b Vengeance\b0 belongeth unto me;" "It is a \b fearful\b0 thing to fall into the hands of the living God;" "A certain \b fearful\b0 looking for of\b judgment\b0 ;" "Sorer \b punishment\b0 ;" and "\b Without mercy\b0 ." For a child of God to sin willfully and defiantly will bring severe judgment and indignation from God. Keep in mind that once you are a child of God, you are always a child of God. That cannot chLVALange. Another thing to keep in mind is that this warning is given to those who can become guilty of the willful sin.\par \pard\keepn\s1\sb240\sa60\qc\kerning28\b SORER PUNISHMENT\par \pard\tx720\tx1440\tx2880\tx4320\tx5760\cf1\kerning0\ul Heb_10:29\cf0\ulnone\b0 "Of how much\b sorer punishment\b0 , suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?" Physical death was the sentence for those who sinned presumptuously under the Law of Moses. In the New Testament physical death is not to be feared because of \cf1\ul Phi_1:21\cf0\ulnone "For to me to live \i is \i0 Christ, and to \b die \b0\i is \b\i0 gain." \b0 The cursing and the blessing is clear in\b \cf1\ul\b0 Pro_13:13\cf0\ulnone "Whoso \b despiseth \b0 the \b word \b0 shall be \b destroyed\b0 : but he that feareth the commandment shall be\b rewarded\b0 ." To be destroyed in the age to come is to be feared. The age that is coming is the millennial reign of Jesus Christ. \cf1\ul Mat_16:25-27\cf0\ulnone "For whosoever will \b save\b0 his life \b shall lose\b0 [\ul\f1\fs26 apollumi\ulnone\f0\fs24 ,\ul perish, future tense\ulnone ] it... \i 27.\i0 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall \b reward \b0 every man according to his \b works\b0 ."\par \pard\keepn\s1\sb240\sa60\qc\kerning28\b LAWLESSNESS\par \pard\tx720\tx1440\tx2880\tx4320\tx5760\kerning0\b0 Those that are lawless will be denied an entrance into the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. \cf1\ul Mat_7:21\cf0\ulnone "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall \b enter into the kingdom of heaven\b0 ; but \b he that doeth the will \b0 (this is obedience and not lawlessness)\b of my Father \b0 which is in heaven." 23 "And then will I profess unto them (that were not doing the will of the Father), I never knew (He knew they were lawless) you: \b depart fLVALrom me\b0 , ye that \b work iniquity\b0 [\f1\fs26 ajnomi>a\f0\fs24 , lawless]." \cf1\ul Mat_13:41-43\cf0\ulnone "The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that \b offend\b0 [\ul\f1\fs26 skandalizw\f0\fs24 , scandalize\ulnone ], and them which do\b iniquity\b0 [\ul\f1\fs26 anomia\f0\fs24 , lawless\ulnone ];\i 42. \i0 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: \b there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth\b0 .\i 43. \i0 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun\b in the kingdom \b0 of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear." This judgment is of the saved at the end of the church age, and before the millennial reign of Christ. The judgment of the lost takes place after the millennium at the Great White Throne Judgment. \cf1\ul Rev_20:11\cf0\ulnone . \cf1\ul Luk_13:28\cf0\ulnone "There shall be \b weeping\b0 and \b gnashing \b0 of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets,\b in the kingdom\b0 of God, and you \i yourselves\b \i0 thrust out\b0 ." \cf1\ul Joh_3:3\cf0\ulnone\b \b0 "..., Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he\b cannot see the kingdom of God\b0 ." If you do the will of the Father you can enter into, participate in the Kingdom of God, otherwise you are cast out.\par \pard\sb60\tx720\tx1440\tx2880\tx4320\tx5760 Just as a child of God can go from glory to glory by the Spirit of the Lord, \cf1\ul 2Co_3:18\cf0\ulnone "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image \b from glory to glory\b0 , \i even \i0 as by the Spirit of the Lord." he can also go from lawlessness unto lawlessness \cf1\ul Rom_6:18-19\cf0\ulnone "Being then made free from [\ul the\ulnone ] \b sin\b0 , ye became the servants of [the] righteousness.\i 19. \i0 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to \b iniquity\b0 [\ul\f1\LVALfs26 anomia\ulnone ]\f0\fs24 , lawless unto \b iniquity \b0 [\ul\f1\fs26 anomia\ulnone\f0\fs24 ], \f2 \f0 lawless; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness." The deeper knowledge of the truth is like salt \cf1\ul Mat_5:13\cf0\ulnone "...if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be\b trodden under foot\b0 (same word found in \cf1 Heb_10:30\cf0 ) of men." Salt that is savory is valuable. When salt has lost it saltiness then it is good for nothing, therefore it is cast out, and trodden under foot. When a child of God becomes lawless, the value of being an overcomer, having an inheritance, and being proclaimed a son of God drops so low that he can walk on them.\par \b "NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR SINS": \b0 Under the law of Moses there were sinLVAL#s that a child of God could commit and be forgiven by a sacrifice or offering; and there were other sins that required the death penalty. It is not until the nation of Israel is raised from their graves and brought into the land that the Lord will say in \cfLVAL$1\ul Heb_10:16-17\cf0\ulnone\b \b0 "...I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds ...; Their \b sins\b0 and \b iniquities\b0 will I \b remember no more."\b0 \par \pard\keepn\s1\sb240\sa60\qc\kerning28\b DESPISED MOSES' LAW\par \pard\tx720\tx1440\tx2880\tx4320\tx5760\kerning0\b0 In the Old Testament, those who sinned presumptuous despised the Word of the Lord and died without mercy under the law of Moses. That cannot chLVAL%ange. \cf1\ul Mat_7:21\cf0\ulnone "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall \b enter into the kingdom of heaven\b0 ; but \b he that doeth the will \b0 (this is obedience and not lawlessness)\b of my Father \b0 which is in heaven." 23 "And then will I profess unto them (that were not doing the will of the Father), I never knew (He knew they were lawless) you: \b depart fLVAL&rom me\b0 , ye that \b work iniquity\b0 [\f1\fs26 ajnomi>a\f0\fs24 , lawless]." \cf1\ul Mat_13:41-43\cf0\ulnone "The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that \b offend\b0 [\ul\f1\fs26 skandalizw\f0\fs24 , scandalize\ulnone ], and them which do\b iniquity\b0 [\ul\f1\fs26 anomia\f0\fs24 , lawless\ulnone ];\i 42. \i0 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to \b iniquity\b0 [\ul\f1\LVAL'fs26 anomia\ulnone ]\f0\fs24 , lawless unto \b iniquity \b0 [\ul\f1\fs26 anomia\ulnone\f0\fs24 ], \f2 \f0 lawless; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness." The phrase "The sin" is defined in \cf1\ul 1Jo_3:4\cf0\ulnone\b \b0 "Whosoever committeth [\b the\b0 ]\b sin\b0 transgresseth also\b the law\b0 [\ul\f1\fs26 anomia\ulnone\f0\fs24 ]. lawlessness: for [\b the\b0 ]\b sin\b0 is the transgression of \b the law\b0 [\f1\fs26 anomia\f0\fs24 ," From the \b NASB \cf1\ul\b0 1Jo_3:4\cf0\ulnone "Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness." The definite article "The" is before the words "Sin" and "lawlessness."
